About NEC
The business began in 2000 as NEC-Mitsubishi, a 50/50 joint venture of NEC Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric. NEC Corporation was organized as Nippon Electric Company, Limited on 17 July 1899. On 1 November 2020 Sharp acquired 66% of NEC Display Solutions Ltd. NEC Display Solutions was renamed Sharp NEC Display Solutions Ltd. and became a Sharp subsidiary.
