How to compare it
Black frame insertion
Improves motion clarity at a big brightness cost. Mostly an LCoS/LCD feature, since DLP is already fast.
Motion resolution(lines)
How much detail survives in motion, as opposed to static resolution.
Compare only within the same reviewer and pattern. DLP's fast response helps. LCD/LCoS sample-and-hold blur hurts, and BFI or MEMC helps.
Standard: Reviewer pattern (e.g. scrolling lines)
Deep cut
Motion resolution. Persistence blur ≈ eye-tracking speed × frame hold time. At 60 Hz, a 960 px/s pan blurs about 16 px on a sample-and-hold display, whatever its native resolution.
