How to compare it
Colour light output (CLO)(lm(CLO))
Exposes white-segment DLP. When CLO ≪ white lumens, colours look dull at the same rated brightness. For 3LCD, CLO ≈ white by design.
Marketing traps
- Colour light output (CLO): Epson champions CLO for competitive reasons, but the physics is real. Some brands now quote 'colour brightness' with no method stated.

Deep cut
Colour light output (CLO). IDMS CLO doesn't require a specific white point. A CLO/white ratio below ~0.8 is a reasonable flag for a white segment or BrilliantColor boost.

Color light output (CLO) / color brightness
Brightness of R, G and B measured separately and summed, defined in IDMS/ICDM. A projector with a white segment can have CLO well below its white output, which looks dim in color content. Epson campaigns on this and cites it as equal to white for 3LCD. ⚖ brightness.color_lumens ↑
